In a move welcomed by Nepal's tourism industry, Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has reaffirmed that Nepali and Indian nationals are allowed to bring, carry, exchange, and take back Indian currency notes of INR 200 and INR 500, subject to the existing limit of up to INR 25,000 per person.
The clarification comes at a time when the number of Indian visitors to Nepal continues to grow. Tourism stakeholders believe the policy will make travel more convenient by removing confusion surrounding the use of Indian currency.
As India remains Nepal's largest source market for international tourists, the decision is expected to enhance the overall visitor experience.
