Buddha Air is set to strengthen its domestic fleet by introducing two brand-new ATR 72-600 aircraft, enhancing operational efficiency and passenger comfort across its network.
According to Buddha Air Information Officer Dipendra Karna, the first 72-seat ATR 72-600 aircraft is scheduled to arrive in Kathmandu from France this Saturday, while the second aircraft is expected to arrive approximately three weeks later.
The airline currently operates ATR 72-500 aircraft. The addition of the newer ATR 72-600 model will make flight scheduling and maintenance planning more efficient, especially after two of Buddha Air's older aircraft were retired upon completing their operational life cycle.
Initially, the aircraft will be ferried to Nepal by foreign pilots, as Nepali pilots are currently undergoing training to operate the new aircraft type.

The ATR 72-600 features a fully digital cockpit, offering enhanced operational capabilities and improved safety. It also comes with a more spacious and modern cabin interior, along with larger overhead storage bins, providing greater comfort for passengers.
Recognized as a green aircraft, the ATR 72-600 consumes less fuel and produces lower carbon emissions compared to earlier models, supporting more sustainable aviation operations.
The arrival of these new aircraft is expected to improve Buddha Air's on-time performance and strengthen its ability to meet growing domestic travel demand across Nepal.
