A high-level meeting has been held to discuss the operationalization of Mazhgaun Airport in Kanchanpur and Tikapur Airport in Kailali.
The meeting was attended by Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal, Minister for Agriculture, Forests and Environment Gita Chaudhary, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Khadka Raj Adhikari, Member of the House of Representatives Gyanendra Singh Mahata, Member of the House of Representatives Komal Gyawali, along with secretaries from the concerned ministries, departmental directors-general, and technical experts.
According to the Secretariat of the Ministry of Forests, the participants agreed to accelerate the legal, technical, and administrative procedures required to bring both airports into operation at the earliest.
During the meeting, Member of the House of Representatives Janak Singh Dhami raised several issues related to Shuklaphanta National Park. He urged the government to establish a security post in the forest area between Barnikheda and Beldandi, develop tourism infrastructure to facilitate park visits from the Beldandi side, and initiate conservation efforts for Kalikich Lake while promoting the area as a tourism destination.
The participants responded positively to the proposals and expressed their commitment to moving forward with the necessary procedures through the relevant government agencies.
