Rock-Climbing Training Begins in Bimal Nagar to Strengthen Nepal’s Mountain Professionals

The two-day training, organized by the Nepal Mountaineering Association in collaboration with the Nepal Tourism Board, focuses on enhancing technical climbing skills and developing responsible mountain leaders.

A two-day Rock-Climbing Training officially commenced today in Bimal Nagar, Tanahun, with the objective of strengthening technical climbing skills and developing competent mountain professionals in Nepal. The program is organized by the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) in collaboration with the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), Gandaki Province Office, and co-organized by the NMA Gandaki Province Committee. The training also forms an integral part of the ongoing Professional Mountain Leader (Fundamental Skills) Training.

Prior to the commencement of the program, a send-off ceremony was held in Kathmandu, where NMA General Secretary Rajendra Bahadur Lama (Rajendra Lama) and Treasurer Sumi Moktan extended their best wishes to the participants and instructors, encouraging them to make the most of the training.

The training was formally inaugurated this morning by NMA Central Executive Board Member Dawa Tashi Sherpa SD and NTB Gandaki Province Office Senior Manager Yubraj Gurung, who marked the occasion by jointly signing the official event banner.

Over the course of the two-day program, participants will receive practical instruction in rock-climbing techniques, safety procedures, rope handling, and essential climbing skills. The training is designed to enhance participants' technical competence while promoting professionalism, leadership, and responsible practices in Nepal's mountain tourism sector.

Organizers believe the initiative will contribute to the development of a highly skilled and safety-conscious workforce, supporting the sustainable growth of Nepal's mountaineering and adventure tourism industries while preparing future mountain leaders to meet international standards.
